On May 28th, 2026, Partners in Project Green’s Circular Economy Leaders Consortium (CEC) was hosted by York University to view sustainability and circular economy initiatives in action.
The group began the morning with a presentation from the York University Sustainability team, Circular Innovation Hub, and Facility Management teams, showcasing successful collaboration. The team heard how York University has embedded sustainability into the student experience, including several research initiatives to give students practical experience as sustainability professionals.

Leveraging the expertise of staff, the York University team presented the strategy to meet their Net Zero by 2040 goal through Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions tracking.
The group also heard how the waste working group is launching a Waste Audit Certification program recognized by the United Nations, to give sustainability professionals the knowledge needed to build a dataset to inform decision making around waste management.
