You’re invited! Join Partners in Project Green and Diversity in Sustainability (DiS) for a facilitated discussion: Sharing Power and Privilege as Organizational Leaders, to unpack the tensions preventing greater inclusion in the sector of sustainability. Together, we will reflect on how power and privilege can be shared with others and discuss ways to create inclusive cultures so that we all benefit from the unique lenses brought to the table by diverse groups in sustainability.
Background
According to results from the State of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Sustainability Survey, tenured leaders in sustainability tend to be less ethnically diverse than the younger cohort of individuals entering or mid-career in the sector. Their leadership has also set powerful precedents and the initial worldviews of the sector, creating norms and privileges that can inhibit younger, more diverse sustainability professionals to bring new and valuable ideas to the table or to advance in the sector.
