Circular Economy Leaders Consortium (CEC) Virtual Knowledge Session: Circular Economy of Textiles

The Circular Economy Leaders Consortium Virtual Knowledge Session: Circular Economy of Textiles

On August 22, the Circular Economy Leaders Consortium (CEC) hosted a virtual knowledge session with Fashion Takes Action on textile recycling in Canada.

This special webinar provided a background of the problem of fast fashion, Fashion Takes Action’s Textile Recycling Pilot, and the launch of the Canadian Circular Textiles Consortium (CCTC), a national platform that connects all stakeholders in the entire value chain in an effort to reduce duplication, foster collaboration and accelerate circularity for apparel and textiles.

Discussions broke out about:

  • What types of materials are harder to recycle than others
  • How organizations can reflect on the textile waste in their operations (e.g., uniforms)
  • Successful examples of circular products on the market
  • How organizations can collaborate to support a circular textiles industry
