Member Spotlight: TD Friends of the Environment Foundation- Celebrating 35 Years of Making an Impact

For three and a half decades, the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF) has helped support community-led, grassroots environmental projects across Canada. By the numbers, since 1990, TD FEF has supported more than 29,900 grassroots environmental projects with over $118,500,000 in funding. This support has gone toward everything from launching nature programs, to helping to transform local green spaces, to promoting nature-based environmental programming for all ages.

With a nationwide footprint, part of what makes TD FEF unique is its commitment to community-driven change. Through its flagship program, TD Tree Days — a volunteer program for the public and TD employees, their friends, families and community members, to plant trees and shrubs with the goal of enhancing urban and rural green spaces — along with regional advisory boards made up of local voices, the Foundation ensures its work stays grounded in what matters most: helping to promote environmental stewardship.

A national charity funded entirely by donations, TD FEF also stands out because TD Bank Group covers all administrative costs, allowing 100% of donations to go directly toward on-the-ground projects led by the non-profit organizations it supports. This Earth Day, TD highlighted what this work can mean for local projects and the species these projects help study, monitor and protect.

As the Foundation marks 35 years of impact, its focus remains on being an active participant and supporter of community-led efforts aiming to help protect and improve local environments.
