On March 25, 2025, Partners in Project Green will host an exclusive webinar for Circular Economy Leaders Consortium members on the experiences and lessons learned from Longo’s metal and hard plastic recycling as well as the reusable produce bag research project delivered by the University of Toronto Trash Team at Longo’s stores.
With the environmental impact of plastic waste, especially as it relates to packaging, early in 2024 Longo’s made the decision to pilot a hard plastic and metal recycling program at its Central Kitchen and Distribution Centre located in Vaughan. Sara Olivieri, Sustainability Specialist, will detail the program’s success (and challenges) one year after implementation and its potential expansion to include disposable PPE found in food preparation and handling.
Agenda:
1:00 PM Welcoming Remarks from PPG
1:05 PM Longo’s
1:25 PM Trash Team
