Green Economy Webinar: Moving toward Zero Plastic Waste- Government of Canada’s Regulatory Approach
On Tuesday April 18th, at 1-2pm, Join Partners in Project Green for a Green Economy Webinar Series session on Canada’s Zero Plastic Waste Agenda.
We will be joined by Megan Hamilton, Head of the Regulatory Cooperation and Implementation Unit within the Plastics Regulatory Affairs Division at Environment and Climate Change Canada.
This presentation will focus on the Government of Canada’s regulatory approach to address plastic waste and pollution. An overview of the Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations will be provided, with an emphasis on the prohibited items, timelines, and guidance for selecting alternatives. The presentation will also provide updates on the development of proposed regulations on recycled content, recyclability and compostability labelling, as well as a federal plastics registry.

Megan Hamilton is a unit head in the Plastics Regulatory Affairs Division at Environment and Climate Change Canada. Megan has been with ECCC for over 15 years, working on a range of issues including information gathering for the Chemicals Management Plan, and developing regulations on mercury in products. Megan holds a B.Sc. from McGill University, and a Masters of Public Policy and Public Administration from the University of Concordia in Montreal.
